Mississippi Archery Elk Hunting



There are not many elk in MS but our ranch has a few. The lodge is first class and the adventure is unforgettable. I build a ground blind earlier that day in a crossing between two green fields. We saw many red stags, fallow deer, zebra, axis deer, scimitar oryx, and more but we were after an elk. Just before dark a nice bull elk came into the field and began grazing. The bull finally got 40 yards from the blind and he let an arrow fly. The shot was back but in MS you can use poison tipped arrows and the bull ran only 30 yards and then died from the poison. It was a great bull elk and probably one of the only ever killed in MS or with a poison arrow.
